Entertainment!

Sometimes having more than one kid is CRAZY! But Savannah and Melanie have lots of fun together. Melanie loves sharing a room with Savannah. I can't hardly put them to bed at the same time, because they just play and play. Usually I'll let one of them fall asleep first and then put the other one in bed. But I love mornings like this one, where Savannah wakes up first. She gets a few books and sits on her bed and reads them. She usually makes enough noise to wake Melanie up, whose always happy to see Savannah. So Savannah will sing songs and read books to Melanie until I come in and get them. It's just so nice that they can entertain each other!

Thank You

On Thursday at lunch time I was showing Melanie how to say "Thank You" in sign language. I didn't really expect her to be able to do it, but I figured if I start showing her the few signs that I know now, then she'll pick them up sooner. Later that day, when Jon came home from work we were sitting and watching TV. Melanie started to get into something that we didn't want her to get into, so we told her stop and go play with the toys. Surprisingly, she crawled away from what she was doing. So I told her, "Thank you." She actually stopped crawling and signed "Thank you." I hadn't noticed, but Jon was looking at her and so he said to me, "Is that the sign for thank you?" We were both so surprised that she had picked up the sign so quickly. Unfortunately, she has only done it a few more times since then.

Being like Mom

This morning I went in the girl's room to get them up. Savannah was sitting on the end of her bed with her pillow in her lap and her monkey laying on it. I didn't really think anything of it, but then she said, "I'm feeding my monkey!" Since I'm still nursing Melanie, Savannah was copying my morning ritual of feeding Melanie.

Then later in the morning she found a teddy bear and told me that it had stinky pants. She then went downstairs and put a diaper on it! She did a really good job of it too!

She's going to be a great mommy someday!

Museum for Youth

Yesterday, the girls and I went to the Arizona Museum for Youth with some friends. I've never been there before and so I was quite impressed with how nice it was for little kids.
Savannah and Melanie both loved it!






Savannah enjoyed making a craft and looking at books. She also really loved Artville, especially the kitchen area and the slide! Melanie enjoyed the little play area that they had for babies. She liked trying to play with herself in the mirror!

Overall, we had a great time!

Exhausted

On Monday I knew that Savannah was pretty tired and so I was going to have her lay down and take a nap. But I thought that I'd put Melanie in her crib first and let her fall asleep and then I'd have Savannah go and get in her bed. So I turned some cartoons on for Savannah and proceeded to post something on my blog. I was just finishing up when the show got over, so I turned around to tell Savannah that she needed to go and take a nap. But she had beat me too it!

She had fallen asleep on the couch!

Escapees

Last Friday, my sister-in-law, Rose, and I took the girls for a walk in the evening. We had only been home for about 5 minutes when my brother-in-law, Rob, came home from work. He found something to snack on, which he shared with Tabitha. The four of us stood in the the kitchen chatting for just a few minutes and then their doorbell rang. Rose went to go see who it was. A family in our ward had been driving down the street and they saw Savannah and my niece, Audrey, standing on the corner! They stopped and brought them back up to the house! I asked Savannah why she had gone out front. She said that she was looking for her daddy. So she just decided to go out the front door and wait on the corner for Jon to come home from work! Audrey just followed close behind her. Rose and I felt so blessed that someone we knew was driving by and decided to stop and bring them back up to the house.

A Big Kid Bed

I heard that someone in our ward was wanting to get rid of a Cinderella toddler bed. I just couldn't pass up such a perfect opporunity! We took down Melanie's crib and moved Melanie into Savannah's crib. So Savannah got to sleep in her new big kid bed last night!

She was so EXCITED about it!

She didn't have any problems all night and was so anxious to go to bed tonight! (We'll see how long that lasts.) She went to bed over 2 hours ago and hasn't moved a muscle! I'm just surprised that she hasn't fallen out of it yet, because she is a crazy sleeper!

The Office

Yesterday, Jane and I took the girls down to Jon's office and had lunch with him. Katelyn got to tag along too. Jon works for Warnock, MacKinlay, and Associates doing personal injury work. He works at 24th St. and Camelback in Phoenix. This is the first time that Jane has seen Jon's office. This is also the first time that I've seen his new office since they had an office swap a few weeks ago. His new office is REALLY nice! He is on the 9th floor and has a corner office! He has two HUGE glass windows that look out over the valley. His desk is facing north and he can see the Biltmore Fashion Park right across the street. He has a really nice shelving unit behind his desk, and his diploma and Arizona Bar Certificate are hanging above that. He says that he feels out of place there!

We went downstairs and had lunch at 7th Heaven Eatery. It is really nice. It is kind of like a deli, but they have a very wide variety of food. I had a wonderful hambuger! Jon had Fish and Chips, and Savannah and Katelyn shared some French Toast! We all had lots of fun!

9 months!

It's finally official!

Melanie has now been out for as long as she was in!
In other words, she's finally 9 months old!

I took her to the doctor for her check-up on Monday. She weighs 16 lbs. 12 oz., which is surprisingly only in the 10th percentile. She is 27.5 in. long, which is in the 50th percentile. And her head is 46 cm in circumference, which is of course in the 90th percentile! So, she's tall and skinny with a big head (thanks to her daddy)! And with those long eyelashes, the doctor says that she's going to be a

smart super model!

She's growing so much and learning new tricks all the time. I'm giving her about 2 months before she has this walking thing figured out!

Feeling Sick

Savannah woke up with a fever this morning. It was 100.2 degrees. I gave her some Tylenol and her temperature went down. She played pretty normally after lunch, but she woke up with an even bigger fever after her nap. It was 102.3 degrees. So she's been a little fussy and not very fun today.

Math Help

At least once a week Stacy comes over so I can help her with her math homework. Unfortunately for both of us, she comes over in the evening when we are both tired, which makes Precalculus even harder. But we've had a lot of FUN working together. And I enjoy having her come over! In fact, she'll be coming over tonight to get ready for her test tomorrow!

More Easter Fun!

Last night we went over to my parent's house for a little family party. A lot of my cousins and my aunts and uncles were there too. We had tons of really good food! Aunt Teresa gave a little lesson on having a good attitude. Then everyone got to hunt for Easter Eggs. Savannah got a huge basketful of eggs.

Melanie even got to ride around on Uncle Brandon's shoulders and find her own eggs! She really enjoyed that! She especially loved showing her eggs to everyone!

Everyone enjoyed finding eggs, especially the ones that had money in them!

More Fun at the Park

We had so much fun at the park the other day, that we thought we'd go back again.





I wanted the girls to get to do something fun with their daddy on Saturday night, so we drug him along. We went and picked up some food and had dinner there, but we had to twist Savannah's arm to keep her at the picnic table eating her dinner.
But all of us had lots of fun again!

Even Melanie posed with her silly face for the camera a number of times!

Climbing High

Yesterday, Melanie pushed this little car-thing over to the couch and then proceded to climb up on it! First she started out just kneeling on the seat. Then she stood up on it! I thought that she was going to try and climb up on the couch next. That little girl is getting faster and you just can't take your eyes off of her for very long!

A few days ago, I left Melanie in our family room and asked Jon to keep an eye on her while I went upstairs. He was working at his computer. I came back downstairs about 10 minutes later and Melanie was no where to be seen. She had crawled all the way down the hall and was sitting in the middle of the bathroom playing with some toys!

Fun at the Park

This morning I took the girls to the park!

The weather was just beautiful!

Savannah always loves to go!

Melanie has been before, but this is the first time that she has got to do anything at it!

She swang for a little bit and then called it quits! But I think that she enjoyed it!

Savannah loved riding a little tricycle around the park. She has finally become really good at mastering the pedals!

The Favorite Shirt

About a year ago I bought Savannah a lime green shirt that says, "Sunshine" on it.

It is absolutely her favorite. She probably wears it once a week, and is always asking if it is clean. Unfortunately, it is getting to small for her now, even though she still wears it!

So I've bought her some other clothes that are the same color in the hopes that she will like them and we can pack the "Sunshine Shirt" away.

Easter!

We had a great Easter!

Savannah and Melanie got their baskets in their beds first thing in the morning!



Savannah got an umbrellla and a nightgown. Melanie got a swim suit and head bands. They also both got some eggs and a bunny rabbit.





I also got matching dresses for them to wear to church. They looked so cute in them!



Savannah and I (and Aunt Rachel) also decorated easter eggs in the evening. I got an egg spinner. You just put a few drops of coloring on the egg and then push the button on the spinner. The spinner would spin the egg and get the coloring all over it. It was lots of fun!

And the eggs look so cool!
