Savannah loves it there and Melanie had a lot of fun too! Savannah was always trying to play the driving games, even though she couldn't reach the peddles. Melanie just enjoyed all of the excitement and the pizza! Savannah got a little ring as one of her prizes. The ring is also a stamp. I told her that she could stamp on her hand, but by the time we got home she had stamped all over herself. My favorite was the stamp right on the end of her nose.

Graduation!

Jon and I went to Stacy's graduation last Thursday! She looked beautiful and I can't believe how much she is growing up!

She's planning on going to MCC in the fall. But as any normal grad, it's almost been a whole week and she's been enjoying herself by doing a lot of nothing!

Our Trip to LA

Last weekend we went to LA for my cousin's wedding! I had a lot of fun, but the trip was very tiring and I think that I'm still trying to recover from it! Jon did a GREAT job driving all the way there and back. He even did wonderful when we got a little lost and when we had to drive an hour and a half through rush hour traffic!

Friday was the sealing.

My cousin, Ralph, and his new bride, Norma, looked wonderful! The LA Temple was beautiful and enormous!

I wish that we would have had time for a session, but the sealing was very nice!Savannah had a great time running around everywhere!

Swim Time!

Saturday was SUPER HOT!!!

So we decided to go swimming!

Savannah, Jon, and I went swimming in the morning.

Then Savannah, Melanie and I went swimming in the evening.

We had lots of fun. Both girls totally LOVED the water!

Out to Lunch

Last Friday we went and had lunch with Jon. We ate at the 7th Heaven Eatery again and had a great time! Melanie got to try French Fries for the first time, and she LOVED them!

Savannah enjoyed looking at all of the yummy treats that they have in their display cases. Their cupcakes always look SO GOOD!

And as usual, when it was time to leave, Savannah was scared of the ALLIGATOR, I mean the elevator!

Broccoli

Melanie is the messiest eater!

She likes to stick her fingers in her mouth with her food and then she seems to smear it everywhere! She ALWAYS gets it in her hair. On Thursday, she had some pasta with broccoli and I found this HUGE piece of broccoli behind her ear when she was done! Swim Lessons, Part 2

I am so proud of Savannah. She had such a rough time with swim lessons last week, but she has done so much better this week! She was not happy to go on Monday and not too excited to go on Tuesday, but Wednesday was great! She didn't cry at all and she went underwater over a dozen times!

New Dos, Part 2

When I had my hair done, the beautician told me that I had a lot of natural curl in my hair, so I should try and style it like that. So here it is, with some mousse in it. Sorry, Savannah took the picture. She thinks that she can do anything.

I also decided to try to give Melanie a little ponytail.
She finally has enough hair for me to pull it up into the tiniest ponytail!

A New Trick

Last night we were finishing up Family Home Evening and I told Savannah to fold her arms so we could have the prayer. Melanie was playing on the floor at the time and I happened to glance at her. She was sitting there with her arms folded too! So we were able to snag a few pictures of her doing her new trick. She won't fold her arms every time that she's told, but she'll do it about half of the time!

The New Do

Saturday night Jane took me to get my hair done. I was really quite nervous about the whole thing, so I ended up not doing anything too drastic to my hair. I did get it layered and had about 3 inches taken off in the back and a lot more taken off in the front. I also got some blonde highlights. So feel free to tell me if you like it or not. Maybe next time I'll be brave enough to have it cut short!

My Dad keeps saying that Melanie looks just like me when I was little. So he gave me a picture of when I was little. Can you tell which one is me and which is Melanie?

Okay, so the quality of the pictures kind of gives it away.

Memory - Ada Fire

I have a little bit of extra time and so I thought that it would be a perfect time to share a memory. I'm hoping to do this on a regular basis.

The Ada Fire

I was looking through some old pictures and came across these. During Jon's second year of law school one of the buildings in Ada caught fire. It was a very large fire and at first I thought that it was one of the old church buildings in Ada that was on fire. But it was 3 stories tall. The top 2 stories were apartments. I think the fire started in one of the apartments or attic. There were a few businesses on the bottom floor. We often went to the Movie Rental place that was on the ground floor, even though you could only rent the movie for 1 night. In the picture below, it was where all the windows are busted out and all you can see is bricks and debris. There was also a tattoo parlor right next to that, but they were lucky enough to have moved to a newer location about a month before the fire. If you look closely, you can see a For Rent sign in their window.

I remember that the entire town was filled with smoke that night. Also, because there was such a large demand on the water and water pressure that it did something funky to the tap water. The water was all cloudy for a couple of months. Main Street had to be closed off for a few weeks and then the building just sat there like this for a while. When Jon and I came back for our 3rd year, the building had been demolished and there was only a vacant lot there.

Movie Debut

The parent's of a good friend of mine made our wedding video. Her dad is also a fireman for the city of Mesa. His fire chief put him in charge of making some water safety commercials. So, Melanie and I get to star in one of their six commercials! We went today and strutted our stuff for about an hour and a half. Melanie did great! She was able to crawl over and stand up to the bucket of water that I was using to mop the floor. I must say that she was a natural, unlike myself. I was quite nervous. We didn't want Melanie to start crying when I had to scream her name, so we decided to call her Katelyn instead (which also happens to be my niece's name). But luckily they didn't have too many complaints about my poor acting abilities! The commercials are supposed to be finished by the end of next week. I assume that they will start showing them shortly after that. I was told that they will mainly air on Channel 11, which is the city of Mesa's channel. But there is a possibility that they will also air on other channels.

Ponytail

Savannah has been so picky about how I do her hair lately. She only wants ONE ponytail on the top of her head, with her hair down in the back. But I did manage to put all her hair up in a ponytail the other day. I thought that she looked so cute. However, she hasn't let me do it again since then.

A Big Kid Bed, Part 2

I decided to check on the girls before I got into bed last night.

This is how I found Savannah. I knew that she'd have trouble staying in her bed. I'm just surprised that it's taken a week and a half before she fell out.

Building Blocks

Yesterday, Savannah wanted to build a castle with her blocks. She wanted it to look exactly like the picture on the tub. I think that we did pretty good. And having those blocks for about 2 years now, I'm surprised that we were only missing 2 or 3 of them!
