Our Vacation: The Zoo

This past week has been great! Jon took the entire week off to enjoy our at-home vacation. We've basically tried to do all of the things that we could think of that we would love to just go and do if we had lots of free time!

Our first stop: the Zoo! I haven't taken the girls in a year and it was wonderful to have Jon there!

We couldn't even get over the bridge without stopping to look at all the turtles. My girls have recently become obsessed with turtles - thank you Aunt Brenda!
Next, we saw the sting rays and shark. Savannah wanted to touch one (even though I think it would have scared her if she had been successful) and Melanie just wanted to play in the water! We couldn't pass up Savannah's photo op! Her name-sake sign!
And then Melanie's favorite animal: the giraffe! This is her favorite animal to ride on the carousel, hence her favorite animal!

We wanted to rent the cool 4-seater bikes that they have, but Melanie was too young to ride. So we took a ride on the tram (or train as Savannah called it) instead.

Then we rode the carousel while Jon went to rent us a double stroller. There's Melanie on her favorite giraffe (because it doesn't go up and down)!

Savannah was so happy to get to go on a camel ride with her dad! Melanie was bummed out that she was too young again!

We got lots of walking in and enjoyed seeing a number of animals. The girls loved seeing the baboons and other monkeys!

Melanie was having a meltdown, so we stopped for a very expensive and not very filling lunch break! Lay off my churro man!
We got to see some very cute orangutans. There is a baby one hiding under the sheet in the middle, behind the ladder. He was playing peek-a-boo, but we didn't manage to catch him while he was out.

And then off to the elephants! Just can't pass them up!

The petting zoo was at the very end. Melanie had been asking to touch every animal that we saw, but when we got to the petting zoo she was so scared of the goats. On the other hand, Savannah thought that it was great and petted and brushed as many goats as possible.

We stopped and saw this large iguana on our way out. I'm not sure why, but the girls were totally fascinated with it!

We had to bribe the girls with one more carousel ride, in order to get them into the stroller (because for some reason, Melanie wanted to walk), so we could leave! Someone beat Melanie to the giraffe this time, but she still enjoyed it!

We had such a fun time and the girls were sad to leave. Savannah was especially sad that we hadn't seen the zebras, but they weren't out when be went by their exhibit.

But Melanie fell fast asleep within 2 minutes and Savannah finally gave in and fell asleep about 2 minutes away from home. We all took good naps when we got home!

Your girls are too cute! That is really exciting that you are having a boy!!! I didn't even know you were pregnant, I guess that means our families should get together more often. Well I am glad to have found you on blogspot.

What a fun trip. I think that sometimes the best vacations are when you spend them at home with nothing else to do. Just kind of disappear from everyone else.

Krisy, I am SOOOO glad that you got to spend some great time with your hubby. You definately deserve that! I loved all of the pictures. The grand canyon pictures made me miss AZ, and all of you even more. Hope to see you this summer!
