Bath Time & Sunday Best

It has taken Spencer's belly button a month to finally close up. So on Sunday, he got his first real bath. He wasn't quite sure if he liked it or not. If he hadn't been so man-handled, then he probably would have loved the whole thing. But we got him nice and clean and smelling baby-fresh! And he looked so cute wrapped in his new little ducky towel.
Then I got him dressed for church. He was so bright-eyed and happy to be clean. He almost looks like he's smiling for this picture. And I thought that he looked totally adorable in his church attire!

Swim Lessons

The last 4 weeks of our life have been mostly consumed by swim lessons (and adapting to a new baby)! Since we went to lessons right in the middle of the day, then we would take a late lunch and a late nap, getting us in bed late! The girls learned so much and had a good time too! They love their teacher and loved taking lessons with their cousins! I did manage to get a few shots of them on their last day.
Melanie Floating - not necessarily her favorite thing, but she does it rather well.Audrey & Melanie hanging out on the step - Melanie doesn't always get along with Audrey, but Melanie was certainly Audrey's little shadow during lessons. She seemed to like to stand by Audrey for moral support.Melanie's turn arounds - Geri is trying to get Melanie to turn around and grab the wall. For some reason, Melanie kept turning her head to the side, so she still has plenty of room for improvement. Do you like how Geri uses Melanie's little pony tail to pull her over to the side? That's what those are for, right?
(Sorry it's sideways!)

Miss Geri taking Melanie down the slide - This was a special treat for the last day. Melanie really wanted to go down the slide, but was too chicken to do it on her own! Thanks Geri for taking her!

Savannh picking up rings- She kept herself entertained by diving for rings on the step.

Savannah practicing the butterfly stroke - She's not very good at the stroke, but seems to have the kicks down fairly well!

Savannah jumping in - She's become really good at jumping in and getting herself back to the side. She likes to do froggy jumps off of the bottom of the pool to get herself places too.

Savannah diving in - She loved jumping in, unlike Melanie, who is still scared to do it!

Savannah going on the slide - She got brave after a few times down the slide and decided to go down head first!

Our Little Buddy

Savannah and Melanie absolutely love Spencer! They always want to hold him, even when he's not awake! He's such a good baby too and hardly ever complains about them overly loving him. Melanie has started calling Spencer: Buddy. She'll say, "Hey buddy! Hey buddy!" It's just too cute! And our little Buddy is a pretty good little sleeper. I thought that he was adorable when he fell asleep in his bouncy seat while I took a quick shower. He's just so easy going!

Monsoons!

I love monsoon season! I was completely surprised when it suddenly started pouring Wednesday evening. It came down hard for about 5 minutes and then stopped. It's amazing how much water was coming down off of our back patio. I think that we need some gutters there!I hope that all of you enjoyed the little rain that we got!

Enjoying the Yard

While we were at the hospital with Spencer, we had sod put in our backyard. I think that the yard turned out great! (Nice work Bryan!) Jon finally bought a lawn mower last Saturday and cut the grass for the first time. It certainly made it look great! Now we just need some flowers or a garden in the back planter area.Later that day, we blew up a little pool for the girls and let them go swimming. The had a ton of fun and were covered with so much grass when they were done! Jon sat out there with them and turned on the sprinklers too. Melanie wasn't a big fan of the sprinklers, but overall, they had a great time!

Silly Faces

Last night we went over to Jon's parent's house. Jon's dad spent some time teaching Savannah some silly faces. But as you can see, she's been practicing some of these for a while now.
(After Breakfast)(At the hospital when Spencer was born)(At my uncle's funeral)

Thanks Grandpa, for reiterating to her the importance of not taking life too seriously!

Check Up

The girls love to play doctor. They have especially enjoyed trying to play doctor with Spencer. Here's Melanie trying to take his blood pressure. She was getting a little frustrated because Spencer wasn't cooperating. She was not happy that he wouldn't open his mouth so she could take his temperature. I tried to tell her that we take babies' temperatures under their arms, but she didn't believe me.But I did take Spencer in this last week for a check up. He now weighs 9 lbs. 10 ozs. and is 23 1/4 inches long. He's just growing nice and big. He's such a content little guy and is a joy to have around!

Family of Five

I thought that I'd share a few more pictures of our new addition.

The girls are very excited to have a baby brother. The first time that Melanie saw him, she started asking, "Hold her? Hold her?" I think that we've been able to correct her grammar, but she is still constantly wanting to hold Spencer whenever he's awake. The girls also got to enjoy "Cookies at 3 with Mommy and Me" one day at the hospital. At 3:00 someone comes around to all the recovery rooms and offers cookies to the new moms and anyone else in the room. The girls were so excited to sit on my bed and eat their yummy cookie! Here I am with the girls. I think that they were feeling a little deprived of mommy, but they are so lucky to have grandmas that love them to death and do anything and everything for them! Here's our latest family picture. We couldn't get everyone to look at the camera and smile at the same time, but it turned out okay. We're so glad to have a little boy to help even out the girls.I have to say that the day that I get to bring the baby home from the hospital has always been one of the happiest and proudest days for me. We had some trouble getting discharged this time. My doctor went out of town on Friday morning and the doctor that was supposed to come and check me for him didn't come until 4 pm. We were very happy to leave the hospital, and they even let me walk out of there instead of riding in a wheel chair! Of course, being outside took all of the energy out of Spencer and he just snoozed in his car seat for a little while after we got home. Such a cutie! As soon as the girls got home, they immediately started playing mommy. They both got out a baby that they had to take care of. Too cute. And then Melanie wanted to snuggle on the bed with Spencer. I think that she was a little bummed out that we wouldn't let her get too close to him.And here's Spencer, already growing out of some of the outfits that we got for him. So much for thinking that I might possibly have a small baby. Just very wishful thinking on my part. One morning Savannah woke up to find Spencer and I up. She has been so excited to pick out his clothes and pajamas. She loved these jammies and was so happy that he was awake the next morning. I let her hold him for a while and both of them loved it!And I just had to show off this beautiful bouquet that Jon's office sent to us. It came the day that we came home from the hospital, but since we were discharged so late then the delivery guy left it with our neighbors. Yes, the college boys that live next to us, that like to sunbathe on their driveway and have band practice in their back room (which shares a wall with our master bedroom). Needless to say, Jon wasn't very excited to have to go over to their place to pick up the flowers. But I'm proud to report that they haven't had band practice at all this past week! I've been home everyday, almost all day for the last week and have only heard a faint guitar every once in a while. So thanks for the flowers! I absolutely love lilies (and the peace and quiet)!I know that I'm completely biased, but I think that he's an absolutely beautiful baby. Nice round head, black hair, and great skin coloring! I love to just sit and snuggle with him. He's so easy going and will just lay there and look around when he's awake. I've been blessed with beautiful, happy babies!
